Maj Gen (retd) Satbir Singh told ANI, “Our protest will continue till Govt takes a strong decision.”

“We will organise 'Gaurav Rally' on Saturday and will then disclose our next course of action,” Group Captain VK Gandhi was quoted by ANI.

Several ex-servicemen have reportedly decided to wait for written statement from the government before calling off the agitation.

While inaugurating the Badarpur-Faridabad line, PM Narendra Modi today said, “Some people are misleading the people and the Jawans of the nation on the issue of VRS. We assure you that OROP will cover those who were forced to take voluntary retirement from the Army.”

The OROP scheme has been a long-standing demand of ex-servicemen's associations and relates to payment of uniform pension to defence forces personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.

OROP policy is expected to benefit 25 lakh ex-servicemen and widows of defence personnel.
