Pakistan practices terrorism, military cooperation with it will create problems: India tells Russia
India has told Russia that its military cooperation with Pakistan was a wrong approach.
Delhi: Pakistan is a state that sponsors terrorism - This is what India has told Russia, as per a media report.
As per Hindustan Times, India has also told Russia that its military cooperation with Pakistan was a wrong approach and would create further problems.
“We have conveyed our views to the Russian side that military cooperation with Pakistan which is a state that sponsors and practices terrorism as a matter of state policy is a wrong approach and it will only create further problems”, Indian envoy to Russia, Pankaj Saran told Russian news agency Ria Novosti in an interview.
“We see no change in this. On the contrary, this has only strengthened in all areas, including in the field of military-technical cooperation”, Saran was further quoted as saying by the Daily.
His remarks comes ahead of the summit between President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 15.
PM Modi is expected to raise the issue of cross-border terrorism with the Russian President.
Russia was the only P-5 country to support India’s surgical strike along the Line of Control.
Russia welcomes surgical strike by India in PoK
On October 03, days after it asked lslamabad to take 'effective' steps to stop the activities of terrorist groups on its territory, Russia had said that it 'welcomed' the surgical strike by India as every country has a right to defend itself.

Russia's Ambassador to New Delhi Alexander M Kadakin had also said that his country had always been with India in fighting cross-border terrorism.
"Greatest human rights violations take place when terrorists attack military installations and attack peaceful civilians in India. We welcome the surgical strike. Every country has right to defend itself," Russian embassy had quoted Kadakin as having told a news channel, as per PTI.
At the same time, he had also assured India that it does not need to worry about Russia-Pakistan joint military exercise and had said that it had not taken place in 'Pakistan-Occupied Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir'.
