Pakistani team probing Pathankot terror attack wants to visit Taj Mahal and Ajmer

A Pakistani team is visiting India to probe the terror attack on the Indian Air Force base at Pathankot in Punjab in January.

New Delhi: A visiting Pakistani team probing the terror attack on the Indian Air Force base at Pathankot in Punjab in January wants to pay obeisance at dargah of Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti at Ajmer and visit Taj Mahal in Agra.

According to a report in ABP news, the Pakistani team has urged the Indian government to extend their visa so that they can visit Ajmer and Taj Mahal. But, keeping in mind the security issues, the Indian government does not want to pay heed to its demand.

The five-member Pakistani Joint Investigation Team (JIT) is scheduled to return on April 02.

The Pakistani panel ended its day-long visit to the frontier base and nearby areas in the border belt on March 29 amid vocal protests by opposition parties.

It is the first time a Pakistan probe panel, which included an officer of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency, was allowed any access to a high-value Indian defence facility.

The Indian Air Force base was attacked on January 2, leading to the death of seven Indian security personnel and all the attackers after an 80-hour gun battle.
