New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of the Swachh Vidayalaya Program.

The meeting, which took place in the Prime Minister's Office, was also attended by Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani as well as senior officers.


Under the Swachh Vidayalaya Program, students will take up various activities, including talks on cleanliness and hygiene; cleaning classrooms, laboratories, libraries; undertake the annual maintenance of the school buildings, including white wash and painting; organise essays, debates and painting competitions on cleanliness and hygiene and so on.


The HRD Ministry also proposes to introduce a 30-minute cleaning campaign twice a week in schools involving students, teachers, parents and community members.
