Delh: The BJP-led NDA government will get 342 seats if elections were held today, predicts an opinion poll conducted by ABP News-IMRB International. 

Also, as per the survey, Modi government continues to enjoy great popularity across the nation.

Meanwhile, for the NDA, there was an increase of vote share of 52% in North as compared to 45% in 2014 polls.

However, there was a significant loss in Punjab but gain in East with Assam and Orissa. 

In the East, the vote share has gone up to 38 percent against 29 percent in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, as per the survey.

Further, as per the survey, in South, the NDA has got a better hold with 50 seats and 35 per cent vote share with BJP gaining votes and seats in Andhra and Karnataka too.         

As for the UPA, it will get 66 seats (it had got 62 seats in the 2014 General Elections and the Congress had won just 44 seats).

On the other hand, Left parties were seen bagging 14 seats (it had won 10 last time). 

Coming to Narendra Modi, according to the opinion poll, the Prime Minister emerged as most popular leader with 47 percent in the country.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi got 9 percent votes, with Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal got 6 percent votes each.

49% rated PM Modi’s performance as ‘good’ or ‘very good’ and 32% rated his performance as ‘average’.

About 36% rated NDA government's performance as ‘good’ or ‘very good’ and 33% rated performance it as ‘average’.

Interestingly, PM Modi was rated as best Prime Minister so far, closely followed by Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Narendra Modi assumed office two years ago on May 26, 2014 after he had led BJP to its best results ever in the General Elections on May 16, 2014.

The BJP won 282 out of 543 Lok Sabha seats and became the first party to get majority on its own since 1984. Together with its allies it crossed the 300 mark winning 336 seats.

It was also the first time ever in India that a non-Congress party has won a simple majority on its own.
