Earlier, Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had said that doctors had advised Sharif to undergo an open-heart surgery, following which he would be staying in the hospital for a week.
"The PM will travel after one week, on doctor's permission," he had added, as per PTI.
On the other hand, Sharif's daughter, Maryam Nawaz had also confirmed on Twitter on May 27 that her father would undergo an open-heart surgery.
"Prayers are the most effective and potent medicines. Millions will pray for him so he will be fine," she had tweeted.
Maryam had then gone on to explain her father's medical condition, saying: "In 2011 Nawaz Sharif had a cardiac procedure called 'Atrial Fibrillation Ablation', during which certain complications occurred resulting in perforation of heart which was in turn treated by open heart surgery."
"After some recent symptoms a team of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons carried out some scans and tests, following which they decided to go for an open heart surgery," she had added.
