Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the United States on Thursday to attend the fourth Nuclear Security Summit to be held from March 31 to April 1.

Modi's plane landed in Washington DC a shortwhile ago.


He arrived in the US capital from Brussels where he took part in the India-EU Summit.


The nuclear summit would begin with the leaders-only dinner at the White House later today.


Leaders from 53 countries and four international organisations would share their assessments of the threat of nuclear terrorism at the working dinner.


Prime Minister Modi will share India's assessment of the threat.


 


Three plenary sessions would be held tomorrow; at the first plenary session, there would be a focus on national actions to enhance nuclear security.


This first plenary would be followed by a working lunch, where the focus of discussions would be on international institutional actions to strengthen nuclear security.


The third and final plenary discussion at the summit would be a policy discussion on nuclear terrorism based on a hypothetical scenario.
