New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday rapped the Centre for failing to adequately help drought-hit states.
Hearing a public interest litigation, the court expressed concern over the situation in drought-hit states.
It further told the Centre, “Nine states are suffering from drought, you cannot turn a blind eye towards their problems.”
The PIL, filed by non-profit Swaraj Abhiyan, is seeking adequate relief to drought-hit states from the Centre.
In one of the previous hearings, the court had criticised states that had failed to implement the Food Security Act, considering the drought situation in the country.
