Sushma Swaraj calls on Myanmar President
Sushma Swaraj went to Myanmar`s administrative capital Nay Pyi Taw for a daylong visit on August 22 during which she invited President U Htin Kyaw to visit India.
New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday called on Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw who is on a four-day visit to India.
"Last Monday in Nay Pwi Taw, today in Delhi! EAM @SushmaSwaraj calls on the President of Myanmar HE U Htin Kyaw," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.
Sushma Swaraj went to Myanmar`s administrative capital Nay Pyi Taw for a daylong visit on August 22 during which she invited President Kyaw and State Counsellor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi to visit India.
President Kyaw reached Bodh Gaya on Saturday and then visited the Taj Mahal in Agra on Sunday before arriving in New Delhi.
This is the first presidential visit to India after Nobel laureate Suu Kyi`s National League for Democracy (NLD) came to power in March this year.
Earlier on Monday, President Kyaw was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here.
He is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later on the day.
