'Take-in-India' concept was highly promoted under UPA regime: BJP

Union Communication and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday hit back at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the 'Take in India' concept was highly promoted under the former UPA regime.

New Delhi: Union Communication and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday hit back at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the 'Take in India' concept was highly promoted under the former UPA regime.

Prasad highlighted the scams, which took place during the former UPA regime, to justify his stand.

"Rahul Gandhi I want to say that 'Take in India' was highly promoted under your regime. 2G scam, Commonwealth (Games) scam and coal scam are all examples of 'Take in India'. That's why you always remember 'Take in India'. Our government believes in the development of the nation and that is 'Make in India'," Prasad told a press conference here.

Prasad said the Congress Party has insulted the farmers by giving land to Robert Vadra at cheaper rates.

"Sonia and Rahul Gandhi should first answer on the 'Vadra Model of Development' in Haryana and Rajasthan when Congress was in power, under which farmers' land were bought at cheaper rates and sold at a very expensive rate," Prasad said.

"In Haryana in the last decade, 37 SEZs (Special Economic Zones) were formed but only six became operational. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should answer where did the land allocated for SEZs go? This only shows that Congress has insulted the farmers the most," he added.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier alleged that the BJP-led NDA is least concerned about the welfare of the farmers as they believe in 'Take-in-India'.
