New Delhi: Seven of the 10 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, who were killed in a plane crash in Delhi on Tuesday, could have met a different fate had they gone by the original plans.

A report in The Indian Express on Wednesday said that the seven technicians on board the BSF plane that crashed in Dwarka shortly after takeoff yesterday, were supposed to go to Ranchi on a train on Monday night.

However, in a last-minute change in plans, the BSF personnel were informed on Monday night itself that they would be taking a plane next morning.

And as the fate would have it, the ill-fated VT BSA Superking plane crashed on Wednesday morning.

“On Sunday night, Surender told me that he was going for an assignment to Ranchi by train. However, on Monday night, he said he was going to take a BSF plane instead,” said Dalip Singh Rana, brother-in-law of sub inspector Surender Singh Lingwal, was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

“I keep thinking what would have happened had he taken the train,” Rana added.

Lingwal was among the 10 people killed in the BSF plane crash. The incident took place near the Palam Technical Airport in Dwarka.
