Terror accused Abu Jundal's lawyer wants to quiz Headley

Lawyer Abdul Wahab Khan also moved separate applications objecting to Headley being made an approver in the terror attack case.

Mumbai: The lawyer of Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, one of the prime accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, on Monday told a special court here that he wanted to cross-examine Pakistani-American terrorist-turned-approver David Coleman Headley for four days.

Lawyer Abdul Wahab Khan also moved separate applications objecting to Headley being made an approver in the terror attack case and seeking certain documents and CDs pertaining to the case.

Special TADA Court Judge G.A. Sanap directed Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam to get in touch with the US authorities to check their availability for Headley`s second round of deposition and inform the court by February 25.

On February 13, Headley`s week-long deposition ended and the court had adjourned the case for cross-examination by Jundal`s lawyer to a future date.

After the availability is confirmed, the special court will fix the new dates for resuming Headley`s cross-examination.

Headley is currently undergoing a 35-year jail term in the US in connection with the 26/11 attack case.

In December 2015, in a bargain plea, he secured a pardon in return for revealing the planning, conspiracy and other details of the 26/11 attack which left 166 people dead and 300-plus injured in Mumbai.

In his week-long deposition, Headley made certain sensational disclosures about the Lashkar-e-Taiba, Al Qaeda and other terror groups, the names and roles of various people from the Pakistan Army and ISI, the financing, planning, conspiracy and other details of executing the terror strikes.
