Pakistani crew blow up boat after chase by Indian Coast Guard – another probable 26/11 averted

On the intersecting night of 31st Dec 2014 and 1st Jan 2015 a possible terror attempt was thwarted by the Indian Coast Guard, when it intercepted a suspicious Pakistani boat off the Porbander coast in Gujarat.  According to the defence ministry reports, the boat had Pak terrorists and Coast Guard spotted the vessel and chased it. A hot pursuit followed and it was intercepted after a long chase. The crew members when confronted set the boat on fire. The boat ultimately sank following an explosion.

Barack Obama attends India’s Republic Day parade - First US President to be a guest of honour at the annual festivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi added another feather on his cap when he US President Barack Obama came to India as the chief guest at the Republic Day parade in 2015. 

The other highlight of Obama’s India visit was the deal on civilian nuclear technology and the joint 'Mann ki Baat' by Modi and Obama on All India Radio.

Vyapam scam – mother of all scams

The Madhya Pradesh Vyapam scam was a serious setback to BJP's anti-corruption stance. Several politicians, bureaucrats, MPPEB officials, middlemen, candidates and their parents were arrested in connection with case and tens died under mysterious circumstances. Even Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s name came under suspicion.

India, Pakistan shared ‘Nobel Peace Prize 2015’ - Kailash Satyarthi, a Hindu; Malala Yousafzai a Muslim 

India rejoiced with pride when Kailash Satyarthi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize of 2014. Kailash Satyarthi has been tirelessly working to restore children’s rights and fighting against child labour. 

Satyarthi shared the rare honour with the 17-year- old Malala Yousufzai of Pakistan. The youngest person to receive this award, Malala has earned worldwide praise as a champion of women's rights.
