VHP asks Centre to declassify Netaji files, lauds Mamata

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday appreciated West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for declassifying files relating to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose and demanded the Centre to follow suit by making public all files in its possession to end "myths" about his death.

New Delhi: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday appreciated West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for declassifying files relating to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose and demanded the Centre to follow suit by making public all files in its possession to end "myths" about his death.

"The decision of Mamata Banejree to declassify files on Netaji is a very good thing and it will remove the myths concerning his death," Joint general secretary of VHP Surendra Jain said here.

"It's a right of people to know about Netaji and all the files on him should be brought in public domain by the Central Government and all other governments to clear the air about his mysterious disappearance and his death," he said.

Jain also welcomed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent visit to Banke Bihari temple in Mathura, saying "that it is good that he went there. Anyone can go to a temple."

He, however, added that it is good if he went there to pay his obeisance but if he went to the temple for "electoral gains", he will be "exposed" by the people.

The VHP leader also condemned the moves to restrict religious and cultural activities of Hindus in the name of checking pollution.

"I have reports that Delhi Government is working for regulating noise levels during Ramlila which will be fought tooth and nail by VHP," he said.
