Ghaziabad: A 25-year-old youth who was working as a watchman with a private firm fell to his death from the terrace of a four-storey building in the Sector-3 area of Vasundhara here, police said.
The incident occurred at around 2 AM on the intervening night of November 17 and 18, SHO Indirapuram, Gorakh Nath Yadav said, adding that the deceased has been identified as one Amit.
The deceased was employed as watchman in a private office and his employer had provided him a room on the terrace of the apartment building.
According to police, Amit, a habitual drunkard, fell to his death when he had stepped out of his room on the terrace in an inebriated condition to relieve himself.
But he lost his balance and fell over, police said, adding that there was no protective railing on the terrace that might have prevented the accident.
"No case has been registered so far. In case the family members of the deceased file a complaint, an FIR will be registered against the owner of the apartment under Section 304A of IPC (causing death by negligence)," the SHO said, adding that the body has been sent for a post-mortem.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 23-year-old youth named Prabhakar, a native of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, allegedly committed suicide last night by hanging himself in his rented room?in Khoda colony here, police said.
SHO Khoda Avdhesh Yadav said that no suicide note was recovered from the spot. The body has been sent for a post- mortem, police added.
