Delhi: Exactly two years on May 16, 2014, PM-designate Narendra Modi led BJP to its best results ever in the General Elections and created history.

The BJP won 282 out of 543 Lok Sabha seats and became the first party to get majority on its own since 1984. Together with its allies it crossed the 300 mark winning 336 seats.

It was also the first time ever in India that a non-Congress party has won a simple majority on its own.

On the other hand, the Congress was reduced to 44 seats, its worst performance ever.

After the victory, the man of the moment, who was responsible for Congress' decimation and the grand victory of his party gave a victory speech in Vadodara in his home state of Gujarat, where thousands chanted his name.

It was truly a historic moment in Indian politics.
