Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has promoted 221 police officers, including 209 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), throughout the state.
The promotions were cleared by Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra at a Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here yesterday, an official spokesman said.
He said besides 209 ASIs who have been cleared for their promotion as Sub-Inspectors (SIs), 12 officers of different ranks have been granted grade promotions which include 10 Inspectors, one Deputy Superintendent and one Sub-Inspector.
The DGP said the Jammu and Kashmir Police organisation has been making all out efforts to provide promotion avenues to its personnel in all ranks.
He said all relevant records have been updated at different levels to ensure quick implementation of recommendations of different Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) for timely promotion of the cops.
Rajendra said the PHQ has already conveyed to the subordinate offices to ensure timely meetings of Departmental Promotion Committees to clear the promotions of different ranks within their respective jurisdictions.
