Mumbai: Since partition in 1947, India and Pakistan have always been at loggerheads over the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The stunning valley endowed with nature’s bounty has remained the main bone of contention.

In the last few days, people in the valley have been troubled by incessant ceasefire violations, terrorism and infiltration of militants from the other side of the border. Many Indian soldiers have been brutally killed, mutilated and beheaded by spiteful forces in the Pakistani sidem media reports suggest.

The Uri terror attack had killed 19 Indian soldiers. Following Uri, Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing at Sawjian. A couple of more ceasefires were reported on the subsequent day.

At the Line of Control (LoC) in Pallanwalla sector of Akhnoor, Pakistan conducted mortar shelling on October 1.

A few days later, suspected terrorists carried out an attack on a police station in Yaripora, Kulgam and resorted to firing in Naushera sector.

Then, the militants attacked the army camp in Baramullah, killing one soldier. Ceasefire violations and shelling took place again in Poonch, Rajouri and Kupwara.

Three terrorists got killed after they attacked the army camp in Kupwara.

The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Pampore was attacked by militants.

Militants in police uniform attacked an army artillery unit in Nagrota on the outskirts of Jammu on November 30 and killed seven soldiers.

The surgical strike carried out by India had shocked Pakistan. In order to restore peace in the region, states breeding terror must be given a befitting response.
