Kasaragod is one of the 14 districts in Kerala. It was earlier part of the Kannur district but was carved out as a separate district on May 24, 1984.

The district consists of four talukas, namely Kasaragod, Hosdurg, Vellarikundu and Manjeshwaram.


Kasaragod went to panchayat polls in the first phase on November 2. The district registered voter turnout of 78.43 percent. There were a total 9,51,703 eligible voters - 7, 46,401 out of those cast their votes.
