Thrissur: A court here will on Thursday announce the quantum of punishment for a businessman convicted of running down a security guard with his car in a fit of rage.
Thrissur additional district and sessions judge KP Sudhir had on Wednesday pronounced Mohammed Nisham guilty.
The prosecution had said that Nisham rammed his Hummer vehicle into 47-year-old Chandra Bose on December 29, 2014, and also beat him up. Bose was working as a security guard in a posh residential complex near here.
After battling for life for 48 days at a hospital, Bose succumbed to his injuries on February 15, last year.
Prosecution counsel Udayabhanu told reporters that they have sought maximum punishment for the managing director of Kings Group of companies.
"Since he also claims to be a wealthy businessman, we have asked for a compensation of Rs 5 crore for the bereaved family," IANS quoted Udayabhanu as saying.
The Kerala government had announced a government job for Bose's wife.
