Mumbai: Congress workers on Wednesday protested outside the house of actor Rishi Kapoor in suburban Bandra in Mumbai for attacking the Nehru-Gandhi family.
They also pelted stones and shouted slogans against the actor.
In a series of tweets, Kapoor attacked the practice of naming all the major assets of the country after the Gandhi family members during the Congress rule.
The 63-year-old veteran actor said that names of the prominent places should be changed after those who worked for the welfare of the country.
Following are his tweets:
Change Gandhi family assets named by Congress.Bandra/Worli Sea Link to Lata Mangeshkar or JRD Tata link road. Baap ka maal samjh rakha tha ?

If roads in Delhi can be changed why not Congress assets/property ke naam? Was in Chandigarh wahan bhi Rajeev Gandhi assets? Socho? Why?
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 17, 2016
We must name important assets of the country who have contributed to society. Har cheez Gandhi ke naam? I don't agree. Sochna log!
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 17, 2016
Film City should be named Dilip Kumar,Dev Anand,Ashok Kumar ya Amitabh Bachchan ke naam? Rajeev Gandhi udyog Kya hota hai? Socho doston!
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 17, 2016
Imagine Mohamad Rafi Mukesh Manna Dey Kishore Kumar venues on their name like in our country. Just a suggestion
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 17, 2016
Why Indira G airport International ? Why not Mahatma Gandhi or Bhagat Singh Ambedkar or on my name Rishi Kapoor. As superficial! What say?
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 17, 2016
Raj Kapoor has made India proud over the years all over even after his death. Certainly more than What has been perceived by politics.

Reacting to the actor's tweets, Anupam Kher said, "Rishi Kapoor ji has thought about it and I am sure a lot of people think about a lot of things that they put on social networking sites. It's genuine thought. It is not necessarily against the particular family," as per PTI.
On the other hand, filmmaker and censor board member Ashoke Pandit tweeted:
Salutes to @chintskap for speaking the truth. The #Nehruisation of this country has to go.There is no diff. btwn them & d Britishers.
— Ashoke Pandit (@ashokepandit) May 18, 2016
Meanwhile, the NCP also took strong objection to Kapoor's tweets.
However, the BJP latched on to Kapoor's attack on the Nehru-Gandhi family with its national secretary Shrikant Sharma saying only one family was "glorified" after independence while million others who sacrificed their lives for the country were "forgotten".
