Thane: Protesting against the ban on meat by the Maharastra government in view of Jain community festival Paryushan, Maharshtra Navnirman Sena took to streets and roasted chicken outside a hall in Thane where Jains had assembled for an event.

As per reports, a mob of around 50 people, including both men and women, greeted the members of Jain community coming out of the hall with slogans.


The Jains peacefully ignored the protest and walked away from the premises covering their mouths.


MNS city Vice-President Ravi More, Mahesh Kadam, Raju Bagve, Ashish Doke, women party workers were among those present during the protest.


MNS chief Raj Thackeray had earlier hit out at the Jain community, saying they were getting emboldened because a Gujarati was the Prime Minister of India.


“Because of PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, Gujarati people, Jains are feeling emboldened,” Raj said as per ANI.


He added, “This issue is taken as "Jains against Hindu", MNS will definitely support whoever wants to sell meat, won't follow meat ban.”


The MNS chief's another salvo was - “Digambar Jains roam naked showing their body, if that is okay, then why this meat ban.”
