The hopelessly overcrowded local trains in Mumbai have claimed yet another victim.
21-year-old Bhavesh Nakate died after he fell off a CST-bound train between Kopar and Diva after he failed to hold on to a pole on the door of the overcrowded compartment.
A resident of Sunil Nagar in Dombivli (East), Nakate was working with a logistics company in Mumbai. He taken to Shastri Nagar hospital in Dombivli (West), where he was declared dead on arrival.
However, the most disturbing aspect of the video is that the hand that held the camera appears to be in a position to hold Nakate. A video less would have meant Nakate would have lived to see another day.
Also, given the fact that hundreds die every year on the railway tracks in Mumbai, it's time all stakeholders work to ensure that residents of the maximum city get to travel with dignity.
