Only Anna Hazare deserves credit for Lokpal Bill: Sushma Swaraj
Sushma Swaraj said that the credit for the anti-graft bill should go to only social activist Anna Hazare.

New Delhi: Even as the Lok Sabha passed the Lokpal Bill on Wednesday, BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lower House, Sushma Swaraj said that the credit for the anti-graft bill should go to only social activist Anna Hazare.
Sushma Swaraj said during debate on the Lokpal Bill, "People of this country and the old man who has undertaken fast several times deserves the credit for the Lokpal Bill."
Lok Sabha today adopted the measure as amended by the Rajya Sabha after a short discussion, amid the din created by pro- and anti-Telangana members.
The bill was passed by the Upper House yesterday after all parties supported it, except the Samajwadi Party, who walked out of the House and boycotted the proceedings. The BJP leader also attacked the Congress for trying to take the credit for the passage of the Lokpal Bill. Yesterday, after the bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha, Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal had said that though all the Parliamentarians deserved to be applauded, the fact was that the UPA government had got the bill passed.
Another Congress leader, PC Chacko, said yesterday that the credit for the passage of the Lokpal Bill should go to party vice president Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul had urged all political parties last week to support the anti-graft legislation.
And today, Congress leader Raj Babbar told reporters that Rahul had played a key role in the passage of the Lokpal Bill and said that the party`s top priority was people`s aspirations. Anna Hazare broke his nine-day fast, which he had undertaken in his native village in Maharashtra, soon after the bill was passed by the Lok Sabha. He also thanked the MP`s for their support. The social activist had gone on fast for the first time in 2011 to press for an anti-graft legislation.
