Facebook has hidden your messages! Find out how to gain access to them

New Delhi: Social networking website Facebook keeps getting updated with new and/or improved features on a regular basis.

Every time we log on, there are new things to be seen, where its functions are concerned.

The latest one to do the rounds is the Facebook messenger service, or should we say Facebook's improved messenger service.

We're sure you remember how the old messenger service worked, which was to categorize messages into two folders – Inbox and Others – wherein, those messages that Facebook thought your wouldn't want to see, would automatically filter through the 'Others' folder.

Now, that procedure has been swapped instead for the normal messages and a different folder/option called "Message Requests" — a place where strangers can ask to contact users. This means that if a stranger send you a message on Facebook, they would need your approval before they start conversing with you.

However, there is still another folder that refrains people from seeing every message they've been sent. The hidden messages reside in a special folder called "Filtered Message Requests", and the name once again reflects the same old process of hiding away messages that it thinks people don't want to see.

By opening the Messenger app and heading to the Settings tab at the bottom, you'll find a "People" option — click that, choose "Message Requests" and there you are! Simply select the option to see "filtered requests".

Suffice to say, that the filter system is mostly accurate, which means it pretty efficiently spots spam, however, it does still face criticism from users who claim to have missed important announcements and/or events due to them being filtered.
