New Delhi: In a latest move Google teaches its self-driving cars the technical know-how of polite honking, according to Fortune reports.

In its Self-Driving Car Project May report, Google engineers introduced 'honking algorithm' in the driverless cars that directs them when it is appropriate to honk.

The best part is that these cars uses different honks and beeps in different situation.

During experiments engineers also taught the cars to analyze potentially tricky situations and when to use actually use the horns or false positives.

To mimic the sound of traditional cars, the company also added a familiar hum sound so that pedestrians and cyclists can easily know what to expect.

The next phase of research will focus on how to predict the response of other drivers to its vehicle's use of horns.
