Humans will be digitally immortal by 2045: Ray Kurzweil
The Director of Engineering at Google, said that humans will be able to upload their entire minds and become digitally immortal by 2045.

New York: In what could be seen as a step towards the fulfilment of desire for achieving immortality, Ray Kurzweil, the Director of Engineering at Google, said that humans will be able to upload their entire minds and become digitally immortal by 2045.
Kurweil made the claims during his conference speech at the Global Futures 2045 International Congress in New York.
“Somewhere between 10 and 20 years, there is going to be tremendous transformation of health and medicine,” Kurzweil said. Organised by Russian multimillionaire Dmitry Itskov, the conference featured visionary talks about what the world will look like by 2045.
“Based on conservative estimates of the amount of computation you need to be functionally simulate a human brain, we`ll be able to expand the scope of our intelligence a billion-fold,” Kurzweil said.
In his book, “The Singularity is Near,” Kurzweil talks about the journey humans will take to get to the singularity. This singularity is also referred to digital immortality because a person’s intelligence will be digitally stored even after death.
Kurzweil think s humans will be able to replace biological functions through neural engineering.
Kurzweil further added: “We’re going to be increasingly non-biological to the point where the non-biological part dominates and the biological part is not important anymore.” “In fact, the non-biological part - the machine part - will be so powerful it can completely model and understand the biological part. So even if that biological part went away it wouldn`t make any difference.”
Kurzweil has been talking about immortality for years. At present, he is working to make Google’s search tech understand natural language. He became famous in the 1970s for creating text-to-speech software that enabled blind people to read.
