Kohima: A prominent business woman of Nagaland was shot at by unidentified gunmen at a hotel counter in Dimapur, the commercial hub of the state.
Later she succumbed to her injury at a private hospital, the police said on Tuesday.
Two armed miscreants fired at Ritika Mehta while she was attending to some customers at the hotel counter yesterday, the police said .
The personal bodyguard of the victim and a visitor, present at the hotel, reportedly tried to nab the culprits but they managed to escape under cover of darkness.
The police recovered a bullet head of a pistol from the spot.
Meanwhile, condemning the killing, all shops in Dimapur remained closed till her funeral was held this afternoon as a sign of mourning and protest against the killing.
Nyamo Lotha Road Business Association and Nagaland Hotels and Restaurants Association enforced voluntary day long complete closure.
Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Hokivi Chishi strongly condemned the incident.
A case of murder has been registered at East Police Station and investigation is in progress to nab the culprits, the police said.
