Former Punjab CM Beant Singh's grandson shoots himself, dies

Chandigarh: The grandson of late Punjab chief minister Beant Singh died on Sunday from gunshot wounds.

Harkirat Singh had shot himself with a pistol earlier in the day and was admitted to PGIMER Chandigarh in critical condition, news agency ANI reported.

The incident occurred at his Sector 5 residence here.

While some reports said Harkirat accidently shot himself while cleaning his pistol, police sources said it was a case of suicide.

Harkirat was the younger brother of Congress MLA from Khanna, Gurkirat Singh.
