A smartphone app that can diagnose respiratory illness!

New Delhi: Here is a good news for people suffering from pulmonary diseases! A team of Australian researchers have recently developed a new smartphone app that can diagnose respiratory diseases like asthma, croup, and pneumonia with high accuracy.

All you have to do is simply cough into a smartphone and you will get to know every details about your illness.

This brilliant app, named ResApp, is developed by Perth-based ResApp Health. This technology is based on the theory that the the sound of cough gives vital information about the state of the respiratory tract.

ResApp works on an automated formula that not only detects the illness but also determines its severity.

According to Tony Keating, CEO and Managing Director for ResApp, at the time of testing, the product showed an accuracy rate of 96% for pneumonia and 90% for asthma.

ResApp is a cheapest way to diagnose respiratory illness and also holds the potential to play a major role in healthcare in near future, he added.
