Beijing: China has launched an experimental communication technology satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in Sichuan province.

The satellite was launched successfully at 11.42 p.m. (local time) on Saturday on a Long Mach 3B carrier rocket, Xinhua news agency reported.

The satellite will be used to perform tests on the Ka-frequency band in broadband communications.
