Islamabad: Unknown gunmen on Tuesday killed two soldiers and two workers in a targeted attack at a construction site in northwestern Pakistan where army is building a canal.

The motorbike-borne attackers targeted them in Sheikh Otar area of Tank district near tribal region.


Dawn reported that workers of army-controlled Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) were busy repairing the Gomal Zam Dam road under security of paramilitary Frontier Corps, when they came under fire.


It said that two Frontier Corps soldiers and two FWO workers were killed in the attack.


Nobody claimed responsibility but Taliban often target the security forces in the area.


Tank borders South Waziristan where militants are active.


Pakistan launched Zarb-e-Azb operation last year and so far killed more than 1,500 militants but they are still powerful and attack the security forces.
