Italy deports Pakistani terror suspect

Anti-terrorism police in the Italian city of Macerata have deported a 32-year-old Pakistani terror suspect, the media reported.

Rome: Anti-terrorism police in the Italian city of Macerata have deported a 32-year-old Pakistani terror suspect, the media reported.

The man was arrested on Tuesday and taken to Rome's Fiumicino airport and placed on a flight to Islamabad, police said.

Italian daily "Il Resto del Carlino" named the man as Shah Inayat, who hawked trinkets for a living and lived in the town of Civitanova Marche in Marche region.

Interior Minister Angelino Alfano ordered his deportation after he allegedly incited jihad via social network and shared a terror video with other Pakistani suspects.

Shah has instructed his lawyer to challenge his deportation in an administrative court, the daily said.

Italy has arrested and deported dozens of suspected Islamic extremists in 2015. In June, the country raised its terrorism alert levels following attacks carried out by the Islamic State militant group in Tunisia, Kuwait and France.

In April, Italian police dismantled an alleged jihadi cell based in the island region of Sardinia and arrested nine Pakistanis and Afghans suspected of plotting attacks on the Vatican and insurrection against the government of Pakistan.

Those detained in the operation included two former body guards of late Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and some of the men arrested or being sought were suspected of involvement in the October 2009 bombing of a bazaar in the northwest Pakistani city of Peshawar, which killed over 100 people and injured more than 200, investigators said.
