A shocking video of a young girl being stoned to death by the Taliban in Afghanistan has gone viral on the social media.

Kabul: A shocking video of a young 19-year-old girl being stoned to death by the Taliban in Afghanistan has gone viral on the social media.

According to reports, the girl, named Rokhsahana, was reportedly killed because she eloped to marry the man of her choice. However, some other reports say the woman ran away because she was married against her will.

The ghastly video shows Afghan men hurling stones at the girl, who is stuck in a hole in the ground. The girl can be heard screaming aloud, praying and asking for mercy.

Rokhsahana was brutally killed with stones last week ago in Ghalmeen, which is 40 kilometres from Firozkoh, Ghor, in Afghanistan.

Authorities have confirmed the video is authentic and the incident did take place.
