New Delhi: The International Space Station (ISS) is currently home to six astronauts, including Commander Tim Kopra of NASA, Flight Engineer Tim Peake of ESA (European Space Agency) and Soyuz Commander Yuri Malenchenko of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, who are a part of Expedition 46 and 47.
However, they have currently completed 181 days in space and that leaves them with 5 more days to go, after which, they will make their way back down to Earth.
Once again, NASA has announced live coverage from the undocking process to their eventual landing in Kazakhstan on its website's live TV.
As per NASA schedule, the astronauts will undock their Soyuz TMA-19M spacecraft from the space station at 1:52 a.m. Saturday and land in Kazakhstan at 5:15 a.m. (3:12 p.m. Kazakhstan time), beginning at 9:15 a.m. EDT Friday, June 17.
Since their launch in space in December 2015, the Expedition 47 crew members have participated and contributed in numerous experiments in biology, biotechnology, physical science and Earth science aboard humanity’s only orbiting laboratory.
The undocking process will give way to the onset of Expedition 48 aboard the ISS under the command of Jeff Williams. Williams, along with his two crew members, Oleg Skripochka and Alexey Ovchinin of Roscosmos, will operate the station for three weeks until the arrival of three new crew members on July 6.
