The pair also shared their plans for the holiday - including a day off, some afternoon football and an early sampling of their Thanksgiving Day meal.
A lot like on earth, their menu includes smoked turkey, cornbread stuffing, candied yams and several other holiday favorites.
The astronauts also expressed their gratitude in the video: “We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to be up here on the international space station, working and living in this amazing orbiting laboratory,” Lindgren says in the video.
Kelly is heading into the ninth month of his year-long mission aboard the complex, while Lindgren is wrapping up his flight and preparing for a landing in Kazakhstan in a Soyuz spacecraft on December 11.
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated in Canada and the United States as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. It is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States.
