21-year-old commits suicide over morphed Facebook images

On Sunday night, another morphed semi-nude photo of Vinupriya was uploaded on Facebook.

Salem: A 21-year-old woman committed suicide here after her morphed images appeared on Facebook.

"A suicide note was found in her room, in which she stated she could not deal with the predicament, more so after her parents suspected she had something to do with the photos uploaded on Facebook," said Sankari DSP Kandasamy.

A Vinupriya, the native of Elampillai in Salem district, was looking for a job after completing B.Sc., Chemistry.

On June 23, her father had filed a complaint with Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Singh regarding a morphed semi-nude picture of his daughter on Facebook.

However, on Sunday night, another morphed semi-nude photo of Vinupriya was uploaded on the social networking website. It was also sent to her father's mobile phone. Vinupriya committed suicide by hanging at noon on Monday.

Addressing media persons, her father said his daughter would not have committed suicide if the police had acted immediately upon his complaint.
