Chennai: Expelled AIADMK leader Sasikala Pushpa on Monday questioned the meet of party legislators at Chennai's Apollo Hospitals amid deteriorating health condition of J Jayalalithaa and speculation of a successor to the Chief Minister.
"Why are AIADMK MLAs meeting when 'Amma' is alive? This is unconstitutional," Sasikala said.
The expelled AIADMK MP alleged a conspiracy behind the hospitalisation of Jayalalithaa, whose health remains to be critical and asserted that the bulletins released by Apollo Hospitals cannot be blindly trusted. She also demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention into the matter for a transparent method.
"Why are even ministers not being allowed to meet her? Amit Shah, Rahul Gandhi all went to see but they were not allowed to see her. There has been no transparency since September 22nd when she was admitted. We simply believe Apollo. The public wants to know if she is dead or alive," she added.
"Everyone wants to know what is happening to Amma, everyone is Amma's family," she said.
Sasikala stated that Jayalalithaa should be placed directly under the Centre's care as the public was largely uninformed about her health and was solely relying on the statements released by the Apollo Hospitals.
Meanwhile, releasing a fresh update on the health status of Jayalalithaa, the Apollo Hospital announced that Jayalalithaa's condition continued to worsen and next few hours are extremely critical for her.
