Chennai: A number of unreliable messages, video clips, and photos are doing rounds in the social media apropos of the health of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who was admitted at the Apollo Hospitals on September 22.
One such picture showing a woman, resembling the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief, in the intensive care unit of a hospital has gone viral.
However, the picture is fake as it is an image from a hospital's website in Peru. Moreover, the photo is from 2009.
The hospital called EsSalud is located in Peru's capital Lima.
A close look at the viral photo shows the name of the hospital -- EsSalud in Peru -- on the right-hand side.
The 68-year-old Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo Hospitals for fever and dehydration on September 22.
Subsequently, the hospital said she was cured of fever and needed to be in the hospital for observation.
It said the current treatment plan was based on the detailed discussions doctors had with British doctor Richard Beale, a consultant in Intensive Care Medicine at Guy's and St Thomas Hospital, London.
As per the London hospital's website, Beale is one of its critical care consultants and clinical director, perioperative, pain and critical care directorate.
He is an experienced investigator in the fields of sepsis, ARDS, haemodynamics, critical care nutrition and ICU informatics.
