Swathi murder case: Chennai Police gets one-day custody of Ramkumar to recreate crime scene
Swathi was allegedly hacked to death by Ramkumar at a Chennai railway station on June 24 when she was on way to office.
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Police has been granted one-day police custody of P Ramkumar, the accused in the murder case of Infosys employee S Swathi.
Swathi, 24, was allegedly hacked to death by Ramkumar, 22, at a Chennai railway station on June 24 when she was on the way to her office.
The Chennai police had sought Ramkumar's custody, saying they need to video record him to recreate the crime scene at Nungambakkam railway station.
Despite opposition by Ramkumar's counsel, the 14th Magistrate Metropolitan court on Thursday granted police custody of Ramkumar on August 28.
In another development, the blood samples retrieved from a shirt supposedly belonging to Ramkumar matched with Swathi's blood, reported India Today.
After a week-long manhunt, the Chennai Police on July 2 arrested the alleged stalker-cum-murder suspect Ramkumar from his house in Tirunalveli district in southern Tamil Nadu.
