Launched in five variants - apart from the two engine options - the Nexon is based on Tata Motors' IMPACT design philosophy which seeks to combine the feel of an SUV with the style of a sedan.

Powering it is a 1.2-litre petrol Revotron unit (110 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (110 PS power and 260 Nm of torque) - both mated to a six-speed transmission setup. An AMT option is expected soon as well.

The Nexon boasts of several segment firsts - including a wearable wrist band to unlock and start the vehicle. Projector head lights and DRLs are the main highlights on the outside while the cabin gets several features like a 6.5-inch infotainment system, eight-speaker Harman system and a big central console with sliding tambour door mechanism.

The car will take the highly successful Vitara Brezza from Maruti Suzuki and Ford's EcoSport.
