Hyderabad: The Telangana chapter of the BJP has initiated a signature campaign demanding arrest of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP Asaduddin Owaisi for his alleged support to ISIS suspects arrested by the NIA recently.
The signature drive was launched in Dilsukhnagar in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The campaign was against terrorism and demanding immediate arrest of Owaisi.
Owaisi has come under attack from the BJP after he announced that his party would provide legal aid to arrested ISIS suspects.
BJP state president Dr K Laxman and party’s greater Hyderabad president B Venkat Reddy are leading the signature campaign against Owaisi.
On July 16, a sedition case was registered against Owaisi on the direction of Ranga Reddy District Court after he wished to provide legal aid to the ISIS suspects.
Meanwhile, in a big blow to Owaisi, the families of two of the seven alleged operatives of the Islamic State (IS) have turned down his offer providing legal aid to fight court battle.
