Tokyo: Tokyo stocks soared at the start on Wednesday, extending a global rally as investor sentiment brightened on improved US economic data and hopes that new central bank moves will boost the Chinese economy.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange jumped 2.70 percent, or 433.83 points, to 16,519.34 in opening deals, building on the previous day`s gains.
The broader Topix index of all first-section shares climbed 2.67 percent, or 34.78 points, to 1,335.61.
