Dehradun: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ganesh Joshi's daughter Neha on Friday accused the Congress of playing politics over the injured police horse 'Shaktimaan'.
Coming to the defence of her father, Neha termed Joshi's arrest as overturning of democracy and constitutional process.
Police today arrested the BJP MLA, who is accused of assaulting a police horse 'Shaktimaan' during a protest march here recently which led to amputation of one of its hind legs.
“My father is not guilty, he has been arrested because of political reasons,” she said.
“Police is not at fault they acted on orders of the Congress government in Uttarakhand,” Neha added.
Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand BJP MLA has been sent to 14 day judicial custody.
Reacting sharply to the arrest, BJP lodged a protest with Governor KK Paul and alleged it was "abduction" of its MLA.
The action against Joshi comes a day after the arrest of another party worker Pramod Bora from Haldwani in Nainital district yesterday.
Dehradun SSP Sadanand Date said Bora along with Joshi was responsible for precipitating the fall of the horse during the protest March on March 14 which caused grievous injuries to one of its hind legs.
