BSP MP Narendra Kashyap, son Sagar arrested in Himanshi death case

Ghaziabad: The Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday arrested Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Narendra Kashyap and his wife in connection with the mysterious death of their daughter-in-law Himanshi.

The police had earlier in the day arrested Kashyap's son and Himanshi's husband Sagar in connection with the case.

The arrests came after an FIR was registered under Sections 498A and 304B of IPC and Section 3/4 of Dowry Act.  

Salman Taj, SP City, Ghaziabad said the FIR was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim's father.

Himanshi was on Wednesday found dead inside the bathroom of their house in Sanjay Nagar in mysterious circumstances.

According to Kavi Nagar SHO Ashok Shishodia, family members had rushed a profusely bleeding Himanshi (29) with gunshot injury on her head to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

Her husband Sagar had told the police that she had committed suicide using his licensed pistol.

The firearm has been seized.

Himanshi, the daughter of former BSP minister Hiralal Kashyap was married to Sagar three years ago and the couple have a one-year-old son.

Prima facie it is a case of suicide, police had said earlier.
