New Delhi: The CBI on Thursday raided 12 places in Noida and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, and in Delhi in connection with the Rs.954-crore scam pertaining to the Noida authority's former chief engineer Yadav Singh, officials said.
The probe agency, which is investigating the Rs.954.38 crore scam against Yadav Singh, searched the residences and offices of four firms in Delhi, Ghaziabad and Noida and its directors.
Searches were conducted at the office and residential places of NKG Infrastructure Private Limited, Anand Buildtech Private Limited, Tirupati Constructions Limited and JSP Constructions Limited.
"The office and residences of the directors of the four firms were raided as they were allegedly involved in the execution of a project," said a CBI official.
In addition, raids were also conducted at the Noida office of Gold Link Hospitality, a hotel which is a joint venture of NKG Infrastructure and Anand Buildtech.
"Some relevant files and documents of the case, laptops, iPads and computers from the office premises recovered during searches," the official said.
The CBI on August 4 registered two cases against Yadav Singh on the allegations of executing engineering work between December 14, 2011 and December 23, 2011 in which agreement bonds for Rs.954.38 crore were executed by the engineering department of Noida in compliance with the orders of the Allahabad High Court.
The Lucknow bench of the high court had ordered a CBI probe on July 16 into charges of corruption and irregularities against the official.
The Noida authority in 2012, soon after the Samajwadi Party stormed to power in Uttar Pradesh, had lodged a first information report (FIR) in Noida against Yadav Singh, accusing him in the scam.
However, in 2013, the state government moved the probe from police to the CB-CID which in 2015 gave the official a clean chit.
The state government in August moved the Supreme Court seeking quashing of the high court directive for the CBI to probe cases against Yadav Singh but the apex court dismissed its petition and rapped it, asking why was it so jittery over the issue.
