Mathura: The fate of 145 candidates contesting for the membership of fourteen Zila Panchayat seats would be sealed in the ballot boxes on Saturday as three blocks would go for the third phase of panchayat elections.
"While attempt has been made to provide all possible facility to over 5 lakh voters, security has been beefed up in and around 703 polling booths where the polling would take place Saturday," District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar said.
The polling for Farah, Mathura and Goverdhan blocks is slated for today.
1,477 candidates are also contesting for BDC membership.
Since it is the biggest area for polling, entire polling area has been divided into 33 sectors with sector Magistrate as incharge of each sector.
"While Farah block has been divided into 11 sectors, Mathura 12 and Goverdhan 10 sectors. The entire area has been divided into two zones with zonal magistrate as incharge of each Zone," DM Kumar said.
The polling parties proceeded yesterday for conducting the election in their respective polling booths tomorrow.
"The names of 38 employees who had abstained from election duty today, have been sent to their respective police station for filing FIR against them U/S 134 of People's Representative Act, 1951 and section 174 of IPC 1860.
"The heads of the departments of these employees have also been told to make adverse entry in the character roll of the employees who had abstained from polling duty today," Chief Development Officer, Manish Kumar said.
