Lucknow: Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti has held Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and his family members responsible for the deadly clashes in Mathura's Jawahar Bagh area, where Swadheen Bharat Vidhik Satyagrahi outfit had encroached upon 280 acres of government land.

Stepping up the attack over Mathura clashes, the BJP leader said Akhilesh and his family members wanted to acquire the property of late Baba Jaigurudev. She alleged that on this issue the family members had some issues among themselves as well.

Speaking exclusively to news channel 'Aaj Tak', Bharti said Ram Vriksh Yadav, the leader of the sect which had encroached upon government land, was a Mohra of one of the family members of Akhilesh.

Putting the blame on the Samajwadi Party government, the Union Minister said for two years no orders were passed by the state authorities to take action against the encroachers. She alleged that this cannot happen without political patronage.

She said the Samajwadi Party leaders didn't want the truth to come out and the operation was carried out in such a way that the leaders of the group be killed and nothing comes out in public.

Bharti also accused the government of giving false figures of the deceased.

“If Ram Vriksh Yadav would have been caught alive, many family members of Mulayam Singh Yadav would have been exposed,” Bharti said.

Earlier, the BJP had alleged that Ram Vriksh was patronised by Shivpal Yadav, the brother of ruling Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The temple town of Mathura on June 2 witnessed massive violence, which claimed 29 lives, including an SP and SHO.
