`Probe UP Lokayukta for acquitting Yadav Singh in its inquiry`
The BJP on Wednesday demanded a probe against Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta for `acquitting` former Noida chief engineer Yadav Singh, who is facing CBI probe for amassing disproportionate assets and corruption, in an inquiry.
Lucknow: The BJP on Wednesday demanded a probe against Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta for "acquitting" former Noida chief engineer Yadav Singh, who is facing CBI probe for amassing disproportionate assets and corruption, in an inquiry.
Addressing the party meeting for panchayat polls, BJP state unit chief Laxmi Kant Bajpai said that an inquiry was being conducted against Singh for amassing disproportionate assets, but a probe should also be conducted against Lokayukta.
He said that it should be probed that why the Lokayukta "acquitted" Singh in an inquiry held earlier.
Bajpai termed amendment in law paving way to purchase land of Dalits as a measure to benefit land mafias.
The CBI had registered two cases against Singh, the then Chief Engineer, Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway, and his family members for alleged corruption and amassing assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
These cases have been registered on the directions of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court.
