Kolkata: West Bengal Speaker Biman Banerjee on Wednesday said members would raise in the House the issue of Justice Markandey Katju's alleged derogatory remark on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Rabindra Nath Tagore.
"Many members have expressed their anguish over Katju's comment on Netaji and Tagore. They want to raise the issue and discuss it in the House. They may also bring in a resolution on it," Banerjee told reporters here after an all-party meeting in the assembly premises.
The week-long session of the House would begin on September 18.
Katju had created a controversy with his tweet on Monday where he had described Subhas Chandra Bose as a "Japanese agent" and Tagore a "British stooge".
He said, "I am soon coming to Kolkata where I will give a speech with a scathing attack on that British stooge Tagore and that Japanese agent Subhas Chandra Bose."
